Expected outcome: Chelsea 1-2 Liverpool

Brighton will host United on Saturday. Brighton registered the first win of the season against Newcastle United whereas Manchester United put on a sorry show against Crystal Palace losing 1-3 at Old Trafford.

Brighton has one win in their last two PL games. They lost to Chelsea on their opening day. Meanwhile, United did not play their first-week tie, started their PL campaign in a rather bizarre fashion. Both the teams will play their EFL Cup third-round match midweek ( Brighton vs Preston & United vs Luton Town.

Brighton striker Neal Maupay scored a brace in their win against Newcastle United. He has been the target man for Brighton since his move to them. Maupay alongside Aaron Connolly and Trossard have been successful for their survival in the premier league last season and the trio didn’t waste time to hit the ground running this season.

During the previous meetings between the two teams, they exhibited an amazing quality of football in recent times. The most recent one was a 5 – 3 win for Liverpool at Anfield which was the last home game for Liverpool of the previous season. In the 28 games between the teams in recent times, including the cup games, Liverpool have won 10 times while Chelsea has won 9 times.

Manchester United began their season in the most disappointing way possible. One of the positives was Donny van de Beek, their recent acquisition from Ajax, scored on his debut after coming on as a sub. United had several first-team regulars missing out due to various reasons. Notable names include Mason Greenwood and Aaron Wan Bissaka, and they are expected to start against Brighton after failing to make the starting 11 against Palace.

The last time these two sides faced each other Manchester United put on a clinical performance winning 0-3 with Bruno Fernandes scoring two goals and Mason Greenwood with a goal.

Manchester United would like to put the Palace game behind and look to get back to the W column as soon as possible. Although the task wouldn’t be as easy as it was the previous time.

To sum up, this will be an exhilarating encounter with both the teams looking to counter-attack. Do enjoy!
