Kolkata Knight Riders
The KKR campaign displayed a below-par batting performance for their line-up. The absence of support in the middle failed to support them after losing their opening duo. Lack of death bowling is one of the leading causes of their loss against MI. They need to get back to the board and get their basics right before the next game. Also, as KKR’s other overseas players have arrived, they have their full squad to choose a better 11.
Possible – 11
Subman Gill, Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Nitish Rana, Eoin Morgan, Dinesh Karthik (C & WK), Pat Cummins, Kuldeep Yadhav, Sandeep Warrier, Shivam Mavi, Nikhil Naik.
The bowling unit was excellent when compared to their batting unit. Once the openers depart, there is a huge void to be filled in the middle order. The lack of experienced middle-order batsman can be mitigated by bringing in an anchor like Kane Williamson. Except for the absence of a right balance in the middle order, SRH looks intimidating in other areas.
Possible – 11
David Warner (C), Jonny Bairstow (WK), Kane Williamson, Manish Pandey, Priyam Garg, Abhishek Sharma, Vijay Shankar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Rashid Khan, Sandeep Sharma, Thangarasu Natarajan.
Pitch will become slow eventually. SRH has a heavy bowling artillery and will try to dominate the KKR batsman. KKR didn’t seem to be a strong side in any of the 3 departments in the first match and obviously need to improvise a lot to return to winning ways.
Sunrisers Hyderabad start as clean favourites in this clash.
