Kings XI Punjab
Kings XI suffered a comprehensive defeat to MI in the previous match. It was the worst we have seen them play, and that defeat exposed the bigger problems inside their team composition. The biggest weakness is their death bowling which can be mitigated by including Chris Jordan or Mujeeb ur Rehman. Their top order is amazing, but the rest is pathetic. Glenn Maxwell needs to regain his form if the team hopes to win any matches.
Possible – 11
KL Rahul (C & WK), Chris Gayle, Mayank Agarwal, Nicholas Pooran, Glenn Maxwell, Mandeep Singh, K Gowtham, Mujeeb-ur-Rehman, Mohammed Shami, Ishan Porel, Ravi Bishnoi.
Chennai Super Kings
It has been painful to watch CSK this season. The absence of their home conditions, where they are at their best, has forced them to play differently and based on what we have seen so far, CSK has struggled. This could well be the season where we see CSK lose its iron grip on the IPL. Other than Faf and Rayadu, none of the batsmen are promising. The Bowling lineup is tremendous and is further strengthened with the inclusion of Bravo. Still, spin bowling needs to step up and stop leaking runs. Dhoni is struggling to mitigate this heat, considering the average age of the squad.
Possible – 11
Shane Watson, Murali Vijay, Faf du Plessis, Ambati Rayudu, Ruthraj Gaikwad, R Jadeja, MS Dhoni (C & WK), Sam Curran, Dwayne Bravo, Deepak Chahar, Piyush Chawla.
CSK can include some youngsters and spring up a surprise against the kings and hope to move away from the bottom of the table. The fans are in for a treat in this high profile clash.
Chennai Super Kings is expected to come out on top in this match.
