Mumbai Indians, the defending champion is always one of the toughest teams to play a match with as it contains all-time star players. They have won 5 IPL titles which is the most number of titles won by any team so far in 13 editions of IPL and their belief in backing up their players and even youngsters irrespective of their performance of a couple of matches made them the most successful franchise.
As BCCI decided that next year (2022) most probably two more teams will be added to the existing pool of 8 so it would be a great auction ahead. In the auction, every franchise would be given the liberty to retain 5 players by retention card or right to match card.
I am going to talk about Rahul Chahar and we know Mumbai Indians will like to acquire him back in the auction (2022) because he has done a lot for the franchise by coming into the attack and taking important wickets at crucial parts of the match. He plays for Rajasthan in domestic cricket and joined the MI family in 2018. He has been awesome throughout his journey helping Mumbai to win a lot of matches. Some of his stats that prove that he is a good leggie are –
In case if Mumbai Indians are not able to acquire Rahul Chahar so here, I am going to talk about some replacement of him in the Mega Auditions.
1) Mayank Markande – He is a leg spinner from Punjab who made a perfect start in IPL in 2018 for the Mumbai Indians and was retained back in 2019 for the same amount. He took wickets of big legends like MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli etc.
He took 15 wickets in 14 matches but his presence just locks up as he was replaced by Rahul Chahar. In IPL 2021 He was sold to Rajasthan royals for 2 cr but again didn’t get any chance.
So he will be the right backup for Rahul Chahar as he is pure young talent and he would be dangerous if given a chance.
2) Krishnappa Gowtham – He is an off-spinner and an explosive lower-order batsman who made his debut in IPL in 2017 for MI. He did not get a chance with MI and was released in the next auction in 2018 and then was signed up by Rajasthan Royals. He took 13 wickets in 24 games. He has a strike rate of 169 and over 150 runs in ipl . In the 2021 auction, he was picked by CSK for 9.25 cr and became the most expensive uncapped player in IPL history but even then he didn’t get any chance. He would be a great pick for MI if CSK releases him.
3) Mohammad Nabi – The Afghanistani champ Mohamed nabi is an off-spinner and an explosive batsman. He has been part of SRH and has succeeded in IPL but SRH didn’t give him many chances. So if SRH releases him in the auction 2022, he might be one of the best picks for Mumbai Indians.
