Football over the years has produced some of the best athletes of our generation. The likes of Cruyff, Maradona and now of course Messi and Ronaldo have played for the biggest clubs all their professional career, however something which goes unnoticed is that many of these players were not a direct product of their respective clubs and their academies. Of course, we can argue with the case of Lionel Messi, who was a product of Fc Barcelona’s academy La Masia, but the same does not apply to everyone. Hence today, we look at few of the talent factories of world football.
AFC Ajax is a Dutch club, one f the biggest and oldest clubs in world football. Ajax has produced some of the most gifted football players of both the past and the current generation. Their biggest player was of course the legendary Johan Cruyff who later went on to cement his legacy at FC Barcelona. In recent years, the youth academies of Ajax have produced a new line of stars. Players like Matthijs De Ligt, Frenkie De Jong, both of whom have been playing for European giants like Juventus and FC Barcelona. One of the main reasons behind Ajax’s success with creating the stars of tomorrow is their youth academy and ideology, where younger players are given the right opportunities to be framed as legends of the future.
Borussia Dortmund is the best example for modern clubs to create culture based around young players. Due to their immense scouting team and their talent, Dortmund have given birth to some of the best players to grace the game. The likes of Mario Gotze, Robert Lewandowski and Ousmane Dembele all got their first break at Borussia Dortmund. Dortmund tends to focus on younger and turning them into world class athletes which catch the eye of the biggest clubs of Europe, which enables the club to make huge profits on their sales and invest very little for their replacements. The current examples could be seen in the form of Erling Haaland and Jadon Sancho, Dortmund is quite literally sitting on a goldmine with these two players.
Sporting Cp remains as one of the most underrated talent factories of this Era, while it might be true that in recent years, we have not seen tons of talent coming through this club, but it would be hard to forget that this club has produced some of the finest players in world football. The likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Pepe and Quaresma. Sporting Lisbon has the best youth system in Portugal and of the most underrate youth academies in all of Europe. Not to forget some the likes of Bruno Fernandes also belong to sporting and certainly their former players have left a mark in the football world.
