India has already sealed the fate of the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka at the iconic R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Sri Lanka will be disappointed with their performance in the second ODI as they weren’t able to close the game down and secure a win as Deepak Chahar’s brilliant half-century took India to a victory from a losing position. Sri Lankan batters had a good outing in the last match. Avishka Fernando and Minod Bhanuka gave a solid start to the team. Charith Asalanka scored a timely fifty. The top-order will be hoping to continue to its good performance in this match as well. Chamika Karunaratne has turned out to be a fantastic finisher and a brilliant bowling option. Wanindu Hasaranga came to his own in the last match with three wickets. With the series already won, India might look for a few changes. Devdutt Padikkal might replace Prithvi Shaw while Sanju Samson could come in place of Manish Pandey. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, too, might get rested and Navdeep Saini could be brought in.
Date: July 23, 2021 (Friday).
Time: 03:00 PM (Local), 3:00 PM (IST) and 09:30 AM (GMT).
Venue: R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.
The pitch in Colombo has been fairly good for batting. Scores over the 250-run mark have been registered every time in the series. Hence, a fairly high-scoring game can be expected for Friday’s match. Chasing should be the way forward. There are chances of rain from 2 PM onwards and hence, there could be a few delays. The temperature will be around 27 degrees Celsius.
There is a good chance that the 3rd ODI could get washed out by rain, with a thunderstorm forecast on Friday. It should remain a warm and humid day, though, with an average temperature of around 28 degrees celsius.
