Top 3 players to look our for in India’s Test Series vs England

KL Rahul

After a break from all formats due to a sprained wrist, the right-handed wicket-keeper batsman from Karnataka will be all set to comeback to international cricket with a bang. After his debut in 2014, he capitalized on all the chances given to him. After scoring a ton in his second test match, he has come a long way in international cricket.

He has also set some mind-blowing records both while opening the innings and while batting down the order too. KL Rahul is the fastest batsman to have scored centuries in all three formats. He became the first player in T20 to score a century while batting at number 4 position or lower. Apart from these, he also has a weird record of being the first Indian batsman to be dismissed hit-wicket in T20I’s.

Apart from a lot of injuries in the near future, KL Rahul is the best Indian player after Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma. A lot is to be expected from him in the Indian opening spot with his white-ball opening partner.  Though his inclusion in the XI has been due to a number of injuries, he is by far the best opening batsman after Rohit Sharma.

He has the capability to take away the game very quickly as he has all sorts of shots in his armory. His highest test score also came against England in 2018 where he scored 199 runs, just missed his first Double Ton due to a loose shot.

Sam Curran

After the sudden withdrawal by Ben Stokes- the No. 1 All-rounder, there is a lot of pressure on the sensational young talent from Northampton. Sam Curran will have to fit into his shoes as it is the all-rounders who make the most impact.

After his debut in red-ball cricket in 2018 against Pakistan, he couldn’t get a lot of chances due to England’s rotation policy and the presence of Ben Stokes. But this series is the Golden Opportunity for the 23-year-old as he will most probably be playing all 5 matches against the World No.1 team, a team against which he has given some tremendous performance in the past and would like to do so once again.

His angle against the Indian right-handed batsmen will be crucial as he is the only left arm fast bowler in the squad. With the likes of Broad & Anderson, Sam would look forward to all the chances that come his way as he will get to learn a lot from the modern-day greats.

He will not only have to play a part with the ball, but he is also expected to play some quick knocks at the end of the innings as the entire world has seen his ability with the bat.

Virat Kohli

The entire world eagerly awaits the record-breaking 71st century in this 5 match series as it has now been over two years since he scored his last International ton. A lot is expected from the fierce Indian captain in this series as he is considered to be the backbone of the Indian batting order. With Pujara & Rahane looking out of form, Ravi Shastri and the entire nation expects nothing less than a phenomenal batting display from King Kohli.

I think there is no need for an introduction as he is the world’s most influential cricket. He has set the standards so high that we expect a century in almost every match. His rivalry against the highest fast bowling wicket-taker will be one to look out for. Kohli’s comeback after the terrible 2014 series against Anderson has been phenomenal. Kohli after the 2014 series never looked back and kept on dominating Anderson ever since.

This time around, it will be an amazing contest where two modern bests will take on each other after being tied in the rivalry. Who will be the best of the best?
