Manchester City vs Arsenal: The goal machines vs the forgotten top 6 team.

City vs Arsenal. Guardiola vs Arteta. Master vs Apprentice.

A matchup that used to be a top 6 clash which now seems a very one-sided match between the two teams. Such has been the fall from grace for Arsenal. The once Invincible team under Arsene Wenger is now a team that has struggled to score even one goal in the Premier League this season. City on the other hand look very strong on paper and play with a strong mentality on the pitch. But this match will still be a bit unpredictable considering an equally matched record between the two managers.

Head to Head

The teams have met 48 times in the Premier League over the years. Arsenal has won 23 of these with City winning 15. There have been 127 goals scored between the two. Man City are unbeaten in their last 11 league games against Arsenal and have kept a clean sheet in 6 of their last 7 matches against Arsenal. They haven’t conceded against Arsenal since February 2019. With Arsenal coming into this match on the back of a 6 goal win against West Brom in the Carabao Cup, they are expected to notch their first Premier League goal of this season. On the other hand, City will be hoping to build on their 5-0 win against Norwich and get the 3 points to push them further up the table.

Players to watch

The home side will field their best lineup possible. With  Kevin De Bruyne out with injury, the player in focus will be Gabriel Jesus. The forgotten Man City striker sprung back to life against the Canaries while playing on the right-wing. The forward ran the show for City with his top-class dribbling, amazing work rate and great assists. Jesus notched two assists in his name and was also responsible for forcing Tim Krul into the defensive error that leads to the own goal. He will be looking to keep up this form and bring about a resurgence that makes him the first name on the team sheet before every match.

Arsenal will be hoping to add to their Premier League points tally and get some points off Man City. Pierre Emeric Aubameyang will be desperate to help his team to their first PL win of the season. He scored a hat-trick against West Brom, as well as provided the assist for one goal. If he can keep up this form against City, Arsenal might be able to inflict some pain on City and push themselves out of the relegation zone.

Guardiola needs a win after the disappointing final week of the transfer window they have faced after losing out on Harry Kane and Cristiano Ronaldo. Arteta on the other hand has his job on the line after such a poor start to their Premier League campaign. Arteta has got the best of  Guardiola over a few occasions since he left his job as an assistant coach at Man City. So this game will be a close one even though on paper Man City’s squad hugely overpowers Arsenal. The two sides will give their all to come out on top and we’re expecting the match to be a goal-fest.

Our prediction for the match is City 3 – 1 Arsenal.
