The young wicket-keeper/batsman has played several game-winning innings in the IPL and for his country, one of his most famous being an 18-ball half-century in the 2016 U-19 World Cup. He was the youngest player for the Indian team during the 2019 Cricket World Cup and has shown that he’s fully capable of being the next star for India.

Philips will also take part in the second half of the IPL, playing for Rajasthan Royals. This will give him a boost in the World T-20 that takes place just days later. With centuries across all 3 formats in domestic cricket, Philips is one of the must-see players at the World T-20.

With multiple first-class centuries and an impressive 118* in domestic T-20 cricket, the 26-year-old wicket-keeper/batsman has been “on our radar for some time” according to former Australian captain and chairman of selectors George Bailey. Bailey added that Inglis provides flexibility in the team’s batting due to his adaptability and power.

“He is a player we are excited about for the future,” said Bailey.

The dangerous leg-spin Australian bowler is best known for playing for the Rising Pune Supergiant in the IPL, where, in one of the matches he achieved the second-best bowling figures in IPL history at the time, taking 6 wickets, also holding an infamous record for the best bowling figures ever in T-20 cricket in a losing cause.

He was part of Team Australia during the 2017 Champions Trophy and the 2019 Cricket World Cup and hence will have more experience as compared to the other young players. There are of course many players representing all 16 nations, and it will be interesting to see which young star rises out of the World T-20 this year.
