Real Madrid has headed into uncharted waters with the beginning of the 2021-22 season. For the first time in many years, Los Blancos won’t have a settled, world-class partnership. With Sergio Ramos and Varane gone, Real have lost both halves of the best centre back pairing of the last several years.
Now, while the Los Blancos should have another great centre back partnership in Eder Militao and either Nacho Fernandez or David Alaba, the team’s depth looks a bit concerning. Ferland Mendy can be floated around as a possible centre back position, but, currently, it looks like either Victor Chust or Jesus Vallejo could be the fourth centre back in Madrid.
From the possible options on the bench, Vallejo failed to impress at recent loans to Wolves and Granada. It has been years since he was playing effective football for Frankfurt. With all the injuries from last season, centre back depth is not something to trifle with.
Jules Kounde can be an asset to this Madrid side
If Real Madrid aims to bring back the domination of the last decade, they need to make the bench as strong as the starting XI. And who is more valuable than an ascending, young centre-back coming off two great seasons in the same very league? He had a subpar Euro, but he can meet the demands of a starter at Real Madrid in the future. He is one of the very few players worth enquiring about. Los Blancos cannot get complacent in replacing two legendary figures at centre-back, and thus, Kounde is an avenue worth looking for next summer.
The Midfield is compact and Carlo Ancelotti has got a variety of midfielders to work it. Kroos, Casemiro, Modric still holds the key to success, and with the arrival of Camavinga, the options are plenty. Valverde, Isco, Ceballos will get plenty of chances with the rotation strategy of the coach.
Real Madrid can be deemed favourites to sign Haaland mainly due to Florentino Perez’s close relationship with Borussia Dortmund’s board.
The Merengues dream of a “Galactico” summer transfer window with Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland being the centre of attraction while Manchester United’s Paul Pogba is also on the list. While Madrid is a strong contender to sign Haaland next year, their stumbling block could be Paris-Saint-German.
As everyone is aware by now, Kylian Mbappe seems to be fully committed to Real Madrid. The 22-year old could not complete a switch this summer after PSG rejected multiple bids from Los Blancos and now the only option is a pre-agreement in January.
With Players like Vinicius, Rodrygo, Jovic Madrid has got some young talents who need to step up on big occasions for the team to rise again.
