Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings will be locking horns with each other in Match number 44 of the IPL 2021. All eyes will be on David Warner as he has already signalled that he will not be at the stadium henceforth. His fans will want him to be a part of the playing XI.
The Orange Army enters the game with a seven-wicket win against the Rajasthan Royals. Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings snatched a win from the jaws of defeat against the Kolkata Knight Riders in their previous game. They won the match only by a couple of runs. All thanks to Ravindra Jadeja who scored 22 runs from 8 balls.
The addition of Jason Roy at the top has given new energy to the team, which got reflected in the last match. Kane Williamson will be the key for SRH in the middle overs. The management is banking on youngsters and Jason Holder to finish the innings.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar will play a crucial role with the new ball and in death overs. Rashid Khan will be the game-changer.
Chennai Super Kings batting is very strong and bat deep. If Faf du Plessis is injured, then Dwayne Bravo could take his place, and Ambati Rayudu could open the innings.
Ravindra Jadeja is the key player for CSK while Shardul Thakur is the game-changer with both ball as well as the bat.
There is a clear changing of the guard in Sunrisers Hyderabad. It was quite evident with the changes that the team made in their last match as skipper Kane Williamson dropped Manish Pandey and Kedar Jadhav, replacing them with Priyam Garg and Abhishek Sharma.
David Warner also had to make room for Jason Roy. There is little chance that Warner will return to the Hyderabad XI this season. Not only that, Hyderabad are not expected to retain the former captain going into the mega auctions next year.
The team also had to make another change of bringing in Siddharth Kaul in place of the injured Khaleel Ahmad. As it turned out, Hyderabad registered only their second win of the season and a comprehensive one at that, beating Rajasthan Royals by 7 wickets with 9 balls to spare.
Chennai brought in Sam Curran in place of Dwayne Bravo in their last match against Kolkata Knight Riders. However, the all-rounder was not able to make an impact either with the ball or bat.
Despite that, expect Dhoni to give him another opportunity. Bravo though has delivered everything that was expected of him and it is a bit harsh to keep him out of the side.
Chennai are looking a well-oiled unit with openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis firing. The middle order is also holding its own which is why the lack of runs from the blade of Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni is not hurting Chennai that much.
Both teams will come up against each other at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium and another low scoring encounter is expected. The spinners will have a big role to play with not enough pace on the relaid Sharjah pitch.
While Chennai have Moeen Ali and Ravindra Jadeja, SRH have Rashid Khan as their go-to option. Abhishek Sharma can also bowl a couple of handy overs but Hyderabad should seriously consider bringing in Shahbaz Nadeem who can be a handful on the sluggish surface.
