The T20 world cup has commenced with the group stages from 17 October in the United Arab Emirates. 2 teams from each group still need to qualify for entering the super 12.
Every team in the top 8 will get to play 2 matches each as part of the practice for the upcoming tournament.
Most of the teams like Scotland, England and others have revealed the 2021 World cup edition jerseys and teams like Australia and Pakistan are yet to reveal.
Team India also revealed their kit on 13 October for the upcoming tournament. It received great compliments from the fans on Twitter.
The 2021 world cup edition jerseys have caught a lot of attention recently because of a stunt pulled by the Pakistan cricket team.
In the leaked photo, skipper Babar Azam was seen wearing a jersey that supported “UAE 2021” instead of “India 2021”
The T20 world cup was supposed to be hosted in India but due to the prevailing risk of covid-19 in the country, it was shifted to UAE. The matches are going to be played on the pitches of UAE and Oman.
Although the host of the tournament remains the same i.e., BCCI, thus you can see every team jersey in support of “India 2021”
No action is taken by ICC as of yet as the official reveal was not done by the Pakistan cricket team, but this definitely has upset many fans over the globe.
The geopolitical tension between India and Pakistan could be one of the reasons behind all this. Recently the two series, Pakistan vs New Zealand and Pakistan vs England were cancelled due to security reasons.
The retired cricketers and the politicians were seen blaming India allegedly for the mishap. The fans were furious as well and wanted their team to take revenge for the same in the upcoming mega tournament.
Secondly, everyone knows that both the cricketing board (BCCI and PCB) of the respective country don’t see eye to eye with each other.
The only time these two teams play against each other is during an event held by ICC. There have not been any bilateral series played between the two nations since 2012-13.
The contest between both the team is the epitome of rivalry when it comes to cricket. India is leading this contest by 5-0.
Will this be Pakistan’s year to walk out as victorious and make it 5-1 or will India dominate their opponent as they have done in the past?
