Manchester United travel to the Tottenham Hotspur stadium as they take on an inconsistent Spurs side that will be motivated to win this game
Man United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be under unbelievable pressure after the 0-5 humiliation to eternal rivals Liverpool at home in their last game. Surprisingly, he wasn’t relieved of his duties after that game with many fans making their opinions clear on him on social media. Solskjaer reportedly has the faith of the owners, the Glazers family and Sir Alex Ferguson to turn their situation around.
It will be interesting to see the squad Solskjaer picks for this game. Will he start the sterile midfield of Fred and Scott McTominay again or will he change things up? Will Edinson Cavani play at the expense of Cristiano Ronaldo and big-money signing Jadon Sancho start? Captain Harry Maguire has been in woeful form lately but there’s little chance he does not start the game but he will be paired with the returning Raphael Varane who has overcome his injury issues. The Norwegian knows he has to pick the best lineup to win the game and keep him safe from the sack for the foreseeable future.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s Spurs have not been in great form lately either. Their early winning form, with their season starting with three laboured 1-0 wins, has all but eroded and they have been wildly inconsistent lately. Their latest loss to West Ham has heaped more pressure on the Portuguese tactician. Another loss and Nuno could be in serious trouble. The ex-Wolves coach has to figure out a way to get the best out of Harry Kane who just has scored just one goal so far. It might be a collective issue on the attacking front as Spurs have scored just 9 goals so far.
Both coaches know their jobs might be on the line and will do everything to ensure their respective teams avoid a negative result in what promises to be an intense match.
Spurs: Lloris, Emerson, Romero, Dier, Reguilon, Skipp, Hojbjerg, Lucas, Ndombele, Son, Kane.
Man United: De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Maguire, Shaw; Matic, Fred, Sancho, Fernandes, Rashford, Ronaldo.
Our Prediction –
FT Spurs 1-2 Man United.
