IPL Mega Auction for the 2022 season is around the corner. There have been speculations over many players who could be changing dressing rooms next season. One of the big name is that of Australian opening batsman David Warner. Ten teams will participate in the mega auction.
David Warner, the seasoned IPL skipper, has been playing in this incredible tournament since 2009 and has only been in the auction pool twice.
Sunrisers Hyderabad is expected to release David Warner ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction. He has been SRH’s leading scorer and has also helped them to the 2016 title. IPL 2021 was his poorest IPL season, as he struggled to get started. The management’s lack of faith in his ability contributed to the strain, resulting in him being benched for the majority of the season.
Look at teams David Warner can join for IPL 2022.
The Punjab Kings have had little luck when it comes to the Indian Premier League. The last time they qualified for the knockout stages was way back in 2014. However, in 2018, the franchise showed signs of a comeback after a good auction.
The likes of Chris Gayle, Ravi Ashwin, KL Rahul were bought to bring life to the franchise. The season only ended in disappointment. In 2021, they will have another chance of rebuilding and would hope to add the ever-present David Warner to the squad. With Gayle turning 43 next year, it would be ideal to find his replacement. The explosive left-handed opening batsman in David Warner could be the perfect answer.
The Lucknow outfit owned by the RPSG Ventures is one of the many teams which will go in for Warner. The new teams have an option to pick three players from the player draft. It is an added advantage to the new outfits that they have David Warner at their disposal. “We have some unfinished business in the league,” said RPSG Ventures Ltd. owner Sanjiv Goenka.
His team Rising Pune Supergiant reached the finals of the 2017 edition of the IPL. They missed out on the title and lost to Mumbai Indians in the final. It was an Australian player who had almost led them to glory in 2017. It could be highly possible that they build the team around another Australian in David Warner.

Another team that may seek Warner’s help is KKR. Their openers struggled in the initial half of the season in India. However, the arrival of Venkatesh Iyer in the second leg has worked wonders for the team. In the UAE leg, Shubman Gill rediscovered form and consistency.
With a huge auction taking place, KKR will be releasing several of their Indian local players, providing an opportunity to find important international players around whom they can construct the team for the next few years.
The unknown Ahmedabad team was selected as the auction’s second and final team. CVC Capital, the former Formula One owner, has successfully obtained ownership of the Indian Premier League club.
The new team would like to hire an experienced campaigner to serve as their brand ambassador and guide their team to victory. David Warner has the talent and expertise to lead Ahmedabad to the IPL title.
Another franchise that might want David Warner in the IPL 2022 mega auction is the Rajasthan Royals. After losing former leader Steve Smith, the franchise chose Sanju Samson as their new captain for the IPL 2021 season.
Although Sanju Samson had an outstanding batting performance for the squad, his leadership was ineffective. RR finished seventh in the points standings. The squad won just five games and lost nine of the fourteen they played, including a number of crushing defeats at the finish. As a result, the franchise may attempt to bring in David Warner, who can also lead the team.
