The January transfer window is approaching quickly, and we will be seeing a lot of pre-contract agreement signing as many big players will be out of contracts in the summer. We might see Paul Pogba, Ousmane Dembele and Kylian Mbappe in different shirts next season as the clubs and players have disagreed again and again.
Barcelona wants to renew Ousmane Dembele’s contract in the coming weeks. Still, Dembele and his agent have much higher expectations in terms of salary as they believe Dembele is a Ballon D’or worthy prospect and his demands are based upon his potential. Barcelona will once again schedule another meeting this week to settle things, but if they fail to reach an agreement, Barcelona will try to sell him in January.
Dembele’s departure will vacate the spot in Barca’s attack, but the Catalans might have found his replacement in Manchester City’s Ferran Torres. Barcelona has confirmed their interest in Ferran Torres as director Mateu Alemany was in Manchester for talks with Man City. Barcelona and Torres have reached an agreement, and Guardiola will be open to his departure if the clubs agree. The only problem for Barcelona is that they don’t have enough funds and will need to sell some players or offer a swap deal with cash to Man City.
Barcelona’s first offer of 50 million euros was rejected as Man City demanded something between 70 to 80 million. Torres is tied with City until 2025, and he has netted 16 goals and 3 assists in 43 games for City and has significant numbers for Spain with 12 goals in 22 games. Xavi wants to revamp his attack, and the 21-year-old might be the best choice for the future. Barcelona has also been linked with Dani Olmo as they want to revolutionize the whole squad for the future. The idea of playing under Xavi will help the Blaugrana to lure players, particularly Spanish.
Barcelona already has Gavi, Pedri and Ansu Fati as their future stars, but the addition of Olmo and Torres will complete the attacking trident for Barca. Torres is a very versatile attacker who can play anywhere in the attack. Barcelona desperately needs a striker as Sergio Aguero will mostly retire due to his heart problems, and Luuk de Jong will leave in winter. He can play a winger or a false 9 or even as a striker, which suits the personality Barcelona currently needs. Barcelona is lacking goals despite creating numerous chances in recent games.
He can score with both feet; whether it be a header, scorpion kick or a volley, Ferran has improved his finishing under Guardiola within a short period. Torres’s contract runs till 2025 after signing for Manchester City in 2020 for just 23 million pounds. Barcelona will also look for another signing if possible, as Torres might cost them a lot. Barcelona will most likely offer a swap deal with cash to start the negotiations with City.
