Sunrisers Hyderabad has retained Kane Williamson as captain and promising players Umran Malik and Abdul Samad for the IPL 2022 season.
The IPL 2022 retention list has been released, with most teams keeping four players, the maximum amount stipulated by the IPL Governing Council.
Two more franchises will be added to the IPL in 2022. (from Ahmedabad and Lucknow). The majority of players will be auctioned off, bringing yet another spectacular auction in the cash-rich tournament, similar to the one held in IPL 2011.
● Kane Williamson
One of the coolest customers on tour, Kane Williamson, is a member of the legendary ‘Fab Four,’ alongside Virat Kohli, Steven Smith, and Joe Root.
The Match Winner
Williamson’s batting prowess is undeniable, as he has amassed runs in various circumstances and formats. In the 2018 IPL, he rose to the occasion admirably when he guided SRH to the final in the absence of former regular leader David Warner. Williamson typically had to wait for his moments because the Sunrisers had a formidable collection of international players in their starting XI. Still, when he does, he makes the most of them.
● Abdul Samad
Abdul Samad, a 19-year-old right-handed batter from Jammu Kashmir, was selected for the Sunrisers Hyderabad trials ahead of the 2020 IPL Auction.
The Rising Talent
He was signed for 20 lakh by Sunrisers Hyderabad, making him only the fourth cricketer from Jammu and Kashmir to earn an IPL contract, behind Parvez Rasool, Manzoor Dar, and Rasikh Salam. Samad could be one of the emerging prospects to watch out for this IPL season, with a reputation for scoring quickly, being daring with the bat, and a penchant for huge smashes.
● Umran Malik
Irfan Pathan impressed everyone with four wickets in four domestic cricket matches for Jammu & Kashmir. In his T20 debut, Umran Malik, India’s fastest bowler, took three critical wickets against Railways. So far, Umran Malik hasn’t played much competitive cricket.
The Fastest Riser
Irfan Pathan groomed him from then, and unfortunately for SRH, the young guy from J&K began bowling the quickest balls, reaching 153kmph. It was discovered that no other IPL bowler bowled as quickly as he did. Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje were previously the fastest IPL bowlers. Umran Malik is the new phenomenon, capable of bowling at up to 154 kilometres per hour. He demonstrated his strength in his second encounter of the IPL season 2021 against RCB. His fastest delivery was a little over 153 kilometres per hour.
Some top players SRH should target for auction 2022
● Faf du Plessis
Faf du Plessis, one of the most reliant batters in the game, is set to be a hot commodity at the blockbuster auction. While numerous teams are interested in the Protea star, SRH will be the keenest. The Sunrisers struggled in the partnership last season, and they’ll be hoping to rectify that with a player of Faf’s calibre.
The former South African captain is coming off a fantastic performance in the IPL 2021, where he ended as the league’s second-highest run-getter. Apart from his batting prowess, du Plessis brings a lot to the table in terms of experience and fielding prowess, making him a complete package.
● Marcus Stoinis
Hyderabad’s main issue last season, when they finished last in the points standings, was a fragile middle-order. Apart from Manish Pandey, no one else appeared to carry the load, and Marcus Stoinis could be the man to fill the hole. Whether it’s in the IPL or for his country, the Australian has been in great form recently.
Furthermore, Stoinis can open the batting and roll his hands over for a few good overs. In addition to his steadfastness, the Australian can supply some much-needed firepower, which will lighten the pressure on Abdul Samad. Stoinis is another player that checks all the boxes and fits in perfectly with the SRH squad.
● Lockie Ferguson
Lockie Ferguson is known for his quick pace and devious twists, and he could be just the man the Sunrisers need to join up with Umran Malik. Ferguson was highly successful in the first leg of the IPL 2021, which was held in India, and his pace caused problems for the greatest in the business.
The Kiwi fast is particularly effective in a shorter format, and his expertise will aid the franchise in grooming Umran, who operates similarly. Ferguson’s ability to take wickets at any stage of the game, as well as his death bowling, would put a stop to SRH’s speed bowling issues, which have plagued them for some time.
