All About Bangladesh Premier League 2022

In the year 2022, the Bangladesh Premier League will return. The Bangladesh Cricket Board has confirmed that the BPL 2022 will run from January 21 to February 18, 2022. Due of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Bangladesh Premier League was cancelled last year. The most recent BPL season was in 2019-20, when Rajshahi Royals won the title after defeating Khulna Tigers in the final.

It already has seven seasons under its belt. The event was a huge success because top players represented the franchises. The eighth season is currently under production.

The spectacle has piqued the interest of fans. The governing council of the Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League has declared that six franchises will compete in the eighth edition of the league.

Rilee Rossouw scored 495 runs and Mustafizur Rahman took 20 wickets. Dhaka will host the draft for the Bangladesh Premier League 2022 on December 27, 2021. Prior to the draft, the teams had the option to recruit three local players and one international player.

  • Teams & Tournament System

The six teams are – Barishal (Fortune Shoes Limited), Chattogram (Delta Sports Limited-Akhtar Group), Cumilla (Comilla Legends Limited), Dhaka (Rupa Fabrics Ltd & Marn Steel Ltd (Consortium), Khulna (Mind Tree Ltd), Sylhet (Pragoti Green Auto Rice Mills Ltd).

It will be a 36-match, six-team tournament that will begin with a double round-robin league style. Then there are three play-offs and a final match. The host cities will be Dhaka, Chattogram, and Sylhet. The final of the BPL 2022 will take place on February 18.

Meanwhile, on December 27, the BPL 2022 Player Draft will take place at Radisson Blu Water Garden in Dhaka. For each match, each team is allowed to add three foreign players to their starting XI. Prior to the Player Draft, however, a team can sign one local player from any category as a straight signing. A team can have a minimum of 10 local players and a maximum of 14.

The number of registered Bangladeshi players for each squad, however, cannot exceed fourteen at any time during the competition.

The T20 league champions will receive BDT 1 crore, while the runners-up will receive BDT 50 lac.

Overseas players might earn between US$ 20,000 and $75,000 in the BPL 2022 players’ draft, while local players could earn between BDT five lakh (about US$ 5,555) and BDT 70 lakh (approximately US$ 77,700).

Furthermore, BPL governing council member secretary Ismail Haider Mallick stated that a meeting would be held with the respective franchises so that national team players are rewarded if they miss a few games due to the fact that they will be on a break following their current tour of New Zealand.

“We’ll talk to the teams about compensating them if they miss a couple of games, and I don’t think it’ll be a problem,” he said.

The BPL 2022 will begin three days after the Bangladesh team returns from their tour of New Zealand (on January 15), giving those players time to join their respective franchises.
