Who is Dusan Vlahovic and which top clubs are behind him ?

The Serbian striker is in the news almost every day due to his outstanding performances in nearly every game. In 2018, the teenage attacker joined ACF Fiorentina from his hometown club Partizan Belgrade, and he signed a five-year contract with the Italian club that will last through the summer of 2023.

The Serbian superstar has played a vital role in the dressing room and on the pitch for the club since coming in 2018. Since joining the club, he has appeared in 92 league games and scored 39 league goals, most of which came in the 2020/21 and 2021/22 seasons.

● The Serbian Masterclass

In 2018/19, the teenage striker made 10 Serie A appearances for AFC Fiorentina but failed to score in any of them. It was his first season in a new country, so it was expected that he would need some time to get used to things.

In his second season with the club, the 21-year-old scored six goals in 30 league games. He also scored two goals in four appearances for the team in the Coppa Italia that season. It was clear that the wonder kid was adjusting well to his new surroundings and was rapidly improving.

Vlahovic’s best season was 2020/21. The youthful phenomenon appeared in 37 league games for the Italian team and scored 21 goals, making him the season’s leading scorer. In the league that year, he also had three assists. That season, the Serbian also competed in the Coppa Italia three times but failed to score in any of them.

To put things in perspective, since December 2020, the 21-year-old has 33 goals in 39 league outings. Since renowned striker Gabriel Batistuta, he is the youngest player in La Viola history to score 20 league goals in a season.

Here are three clubs that should target Dusan Vlahovic to strengthen their attacking force:

● Arsenal

Arsenal is in pole position to recruit Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic. According to sources, the London-based club is said to be willing to spend up to €70 million for the star. The transfer is still a long way off, but the Premier League club has made the first move, putting them in pole position to sign the star.

A striking force led by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would undoubtedly be lethal. The Gunners will be making a huge statement if the trade goes through.

● Juventus

Due to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Bianconeri were unable to spend heavily over the summer. Moise Kean and Kaio Jorge were signed as forwards. However, Cristiano Ronaldo was released after scoring 29 goals in 33 Serie A games.

Alvaro Morata also plays for Juventus, but none of their current crop of players will be able to match Ronaldo’s prolific goal-scoring record before his return to Manchester United.

Juventus is interested in recruiting Vlahovic on a two-year loan with a purchase option, similar to what they did with Federico Chiesa.

● Manchester United

Conor Clancy, a Serie A specialist, has described the teenager as a “perfect number nine,” while talent scout Jacek Kulig has described him as a “machine,” stressing his truly world-class potential.

Even though United’s forward spots are now well-stocked, Edinson Cavani’s contract expires next summer, Anthony Martial is desperate to leave, and Cristiano Ronaldo turns 37 in February.

As a result, incoming interim manager Ralf Rangnick will have to make a move for Vlahovic in the coming months to beat off stiff competition.
