Real Madrid is convinced that they will be able to complete a daring double raid for Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland next summer, with LaLiga president Javier Tebas affirming that the club has the financial resources to do so.
The Spanish giants were linked with a bid for Mbappe at the end of last season, but a deal failed to go through.
The Frenchman’s contract with PSG expires in six months, and there are no indications that he would extend it.
● The Spanish Giants Aiming Big
Mbappe, 23, hinted earlier this month that he has his heart set on a move to the Bernabeu, saying that he puts “experiences over money,” hinting that he is considering a move to the Bernabeu.
Carlo Ancelotti’s team is set to make a second huge summer signing, this time for Norwegian wonder kid Erling Haaland.
According to his agent, Mino Raiola, the 21-year-old’s 76 goals in 75 games for Borussia Dortmund have led to him being linked with a number of elite European teams, including Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, and Real Madrid.
Haaland will be available for £64 million next summer due to a release clause in his contract, and LaLiga president Tebas said: ‘Real Madrid have the capacity to sign Mbappe and Haaland.’
According to Bild, a deal for Haaland may be completed by the end of February, giving Dortmund time to find a replacement, though the club is still hopeful that he will sign a new £260,000-per-week contract.
Mbappe and Haaland are two of the most promising players in the world, with enormous moments on all levels already under their belts. Even if ageing forward Karim Benzema continues to perform at a high level, that pair will constitute the future of the La Liga club. Real Madrid will have the financial means to sign both players because Gareth Bale, Isco, Luka Modric, and Marcelo are all poised to become free agents.
Real Madrid is attempting to strike while Barcelona is in financial distress. At the season’s halfway point, the club is already in first place in La Liga. Real Madrid’s dominance would appear to be maintained if Mbappe and Haaland were to join the club.
● The Superstar Duo
Mbappe has 87 goals in 97 Ligue 1 matches and 126 goals in 151 overall games in his five seasons at PSG. He played a crucial role in France’s World Cup victory in 2018 and is likely still in his prime. He dribbles with remarkable speed and generates opportunities for himself and others, and he’s only getting better. Mbappe is a world-class player who can help Real Madrid win the Champions League.
Haaland has already established himself as one of the top attackers in the world. Since joining Borussia Dortmund in 2019, he has become a powerhouse. He has 76 goals in 74 appearances for the club, with 53 goals in 53 Bundesliga matches. His athleticism and finishing prowess are practically unrivalled in the world. He’s a club-changing talent, like Mbappe.
The combination of Haaland and Mbappe in the attack would be dangerous to play against, and Madrid would have found a gold mine if they were to land both of those players.
