Chennai Super Kings beat Delhi Capitals by 91 runs, with Devon Conway and Moeen Ali leading the way.

After defeating Delhi Capitals (DC) by 91 runs at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Sunday, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) returned to winning ways in the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.

CSK reached a massive total of 208/6 thanks to a century-run opening stand between Devon Conway (87) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (41) before Moeen Ali’s 3-wicket haul reduced DC to 117. Srikar Bharat was caught at first slip after adding two fours at the top of the order for DC, who were chasing a massive mark of 209 runs.

With two maximums, David Warner was leading the way. Warner was trapped LBW in the fifth over, and Maheesh Theekshana took his second wicket of the innings.

Conway hit his third half-century in a row and recorded his greatest IPL score. CSK had an excellent finish thanks to Dube and Dhoni, who put up a massive 208 runs.

CSK spinners made it difficult for the DC hitters even on a nice surface with dew in the field. During the powerplay, they lost both of their openers. To give DC optimism, Marsh and Pant formed a tiny collaboration.

However, DC’s middle order had a mini-collapse, losing 6 wickets in 27 runs. They were eventually bowled out for 117, allowing CSK to win by a massive margin of 91 runs, drastically reducing DC’s NRR.

Rishabh Pant and Ripal Patel were among the wickets taken by Moeen Ali. Ripal Patel holed out to the deep while the DC skipper was castled. Mukesh Choudhary took two wickets in the 11th over to reduce DC’s deficit to seven runs.

Rovman Powell was caught behind by the left-arm pacer who struck Axar Patel’s stumps. Kuldeep Yadav was caught by Uthappa in the 16th over, and Simarjeet Singh claimed his second wicket.

Shardul Thakur had a good 24 with two fours and a six. CSK won by 91 runs after Dwayne Bravo dismissed Thakur and Khaleel Ahmed on consecutive deliveries.

Conway smashed three fours in a row against Kuldeep Yadav, giving CSK a 100/0 lead at the midway mark. Gaikwad misjudged a draw shot and was captured by Anrich Nortje, bringing the century partnership to an end.

After 13 overs, Conway continued to target the DC spinners, and CSK were 131/1. After whacking two sixes and a four against Shardul Thakur, Shivam Dube, who had joined Conway, soon went to 32 off 18 deliveries.

Conway was caught behind off Khaleel Ahmed’s bowling, and DC was able to claim his wicket. After the left-handed batter holed out to the deep, Mitchell Marsh removed him in the next over.

Earlier, CSK made one alteration to their lineup, with Shivam Dube replacing Ravindra Jadeja in the eleven.

Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway, the CSK openers, got off to a great start with the bat. Conway got things started with two fours after Gaikwad smashed the opening six runs of the innings.

Conway hit consecutive sixes in the fifth over, bringing the fifty-run partnership to an end. At the completion of the powerplay, CSK led 57-0. Conway’s half-century came after the left-handed opener hit two sixes and a four off Kuldeep Yadav.
