Zinedine Zidane: Has Kylian Mbappe started moving the chess pieces?
In what would be one of the most shocking revelations, news erupts that Zinedine Zidane is set to replace Mauricio Pochettino as Paris Saint Germain’s new Manager. Reports say that Zidane was in Qatar today to discuss his move to PSG, as Pochettino is set to be sacked. The Parc des Princes club has been chasing the former Real Madrid boss for a long time, and now it is likely they will get their man.
Pochettino guided PSG to Ligue 1 title in his first entire season in charge, but his failure to beat the Spanish giants Real Madrid in the Round of 16 of the Champions League is set to cost the former Tottenham boss to lose his job. It is also of noticeable interest that Kylian Mbappe is a massive fan of Zizou, and his word might have played a considerable role.
What will the French Veteran bring to PSG?
Zinedine Zidane has been without a role since he left Real Madrid at the end of the 2020–21 season, and during his time at Bernabeu, Zidane won La Liga twice and Champions League thrice.
Zidane would have many big stars in his team if he accepted the job at PSG. He would have the 23 years old Frenchman Kylian Mbappe, who decided to stay in PSG amid the Real Madrid transfer move. He would also have Sergio Ramos, who was his former captain when they were in Real Madrid. Ramos would be pleased to be under the leadership of the ex-French star again.
He would also have the services of Lionel Messi. We all know how good he is at his job, and Zidane already had to coach Cristiano Ronaldo during his time in Real Madrid. He would also have the opportunity to manage Leo Messi, a feat no one has ever achieved before. On top of that Zidane was a player Messi really respected. We might see an improvement in Argentine’s game if Zidane does join PSG.
Zidane would also be looking for new mid-fielders as Angel Di Maria left PSG on a free transfer, and PSG does have a weak midfield. He would be looking for a midfielder who can assist in forward and help in defence too.
