Spurs to make a ‘strange’ move for Richarlison as third new signing

Richarlison has been linked to Spurs as Antonio Conte aims major rebuild.

Antonio Conte achieved what no one would have thought when he was appointed as the new Spurs manager. The Italian manager replaced Nuno Espirito Santos, who was sacked in November due to inconsistent and very poor results. Antonio Conte had previously joined Chelsea in 2016 and won them the Premier League in his first season and a FA Cup in his second. However, this time Conte returned to coach their arch-rivals, Tottenham Hotspurs. Conte’s arrival seemed controversial for several reasons.

Spurs have always had the reputation of being naughty in the transfer business, while Antonio Conte always prefers to have full authority over his potential transfers. Daniel Levy did a brilliant job by bringing in Fabio Paratici, who convinced Conte to join Spurs. Spurs were in the 9th place when Conte took over, and at the end of the season, they managed to achieve a top-four finish. Antonio Conte’s smart business in the winter transfer window paid off as Dejan Kulusevski, Cristian Romero, and Rodrigo Bentancur had a remarkable impact on the team’s performances.

The three signings will most likely be signed on a permanent deal if they continue their same form. The Italian manager is known for his title-winning success at every top club he has managed, and he will be eyeing the same this season. Spurs mean serious business in this summer transfer window as they have already landed two major signings. Ivan Perisic joins Spurs on a free transfer and a £25 million transfer move for Brighton’s Yves Bissouma. Perisic has worked with Conte previously in Inter Milan’s title-winning season in 2021 and brings a lot of experience and versatility to the squad.

Bissouma has been one of the best holding midfielders in the Premier League in the last couple of years. His defensive contribution to the team has been vital as Brighton secured 9th position in the league last season. The Spurs will be in the Champions League this season, so these two signings will be great additions to squad depth. However, Conte lacks a second-choice striker to compete with Kane, who can be rested for important games during the season.

According to reports, Tottenham is looking for Everton’s Richarlison as their third signing. The Brazilian has produced goals for the Toffees ever since his arrival to the Premier League. He averages a 14-goal contribution every season. The Brazilian would be a great backup option, but his temperamental issues might be a huge problem in the dressing room. He was recently involved in a heated clash with Vinicius Jr. at Brazil’s training camp. Such behaviour is not tolerated under Antonio Conte, who has fixed some disciplinary issues in the squad and would avoid such signing for the team.

Richarlison is keen on a move to a big club to compete in the Champions League. Arsenal, too, is looking for a striker after they parted ways with Alexandre Lacazette. However, it is believed that the striker would prefer Spurs and has already conveyed his transfer request to Everton. Everton survived relegation by a narrow margin, and changes in the squad are expected as Frank Lampard has to overhaul his team. Everton is yet to find replacements for both Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who is linked with a move to Arsenal and Newcastle United.

Everton has set the price tag around £60m, but Spurs will try to bring it down to £51m to secure his services. It needs to be seen whether Conte is keen on signing Richarlison or not. Stay Tuned with The Sportsway for more updates.
