Where will Ronaldo be next season as chances of a possible move increase?

Cristiano Ronaldo has handed the transfer request to Manchester United and will leave if the right offer comes in.

The ongoing transfer window is deemed the biggest in years. The sheer number of free signings, heavy-weight signings and big-money signings makes it interesting. Liverpool, Real Madrid and Manchester City completed the big-money signings in the form of Darwin Nunez, Erling Haaland and Tchouaméni. In the mids of the Lewandowski and Frenkie de Jong transfer saga, a new transfer update came into the picture with reports suggesting that Cristiano Ronaldo will leave Manchester United this summer. The earlier reports came from unreliable sources. However, ever-reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed this news which has brought significant attention to this transfer.

Manchester United are firm with its decision to keep Ronaldo for this season and has no intention to sell him. Erik ten Hag is the new man in charge and has already shortlisted his targets to the United board. United are yet to make a statement signing as compared to other top six clubs that are building their squad rapidly. United’s lack of drive in the transfer window might be a concern for Ronaldo, who aims for Champions League football but will need to settle with Europa League if he stays at United. Tyrell Malacia and Christian Eriksen are the signings done by United this season. Eriksen is a good signing as a free agent, but these two signings won’t appeal to United fans as both of them seem to be backup options at their respective positions.

Since Ten Hag’s arrival, United have made Frenkie de Jong their priority after reaching an agreement with Barcelona. The problem is de Jong doesn’t want to move to Manchester to reunite with his ex-manager. This failed deal could be a massive loss for United as they find themselves behind Arsenal and Spurs, who have attracted players with their project. United’s pull isn’t as strong as it used to be, which might result in them losing their leading man due to a lack of ambition within the club.

Bayern Munich, Sporting Lisbon and Napoli are some of the clubs, involved with the star. Even among this extensive interest, Chelsea might be his preferred landing. Chelsea has loaned out Romelu Lukaku to Inter following his controversial statements last season. Thomas Tuchel lacks a top striker who could lead the line and bag a lot of goals. Todd Boehly would want Ronaldo to be their marquee signing after sealing the transfer of Raheem Sterling. Ronaldo will ensure goals for whichever side he plays for. Yet, building a team around a 37-year-old will be as good as taking a gamble.

Erik ten Hag has already talked with Cristiano Ronaldo and has said that the striker is in his plans. He also says that the striker is not for sale. When asked about Ronaldo’s potential exit, “He hasn’t told me this. I have read about it, but as I say Cristiano is not for sale.” This is what the Dutchman said as his side started their preseason in Thailand without Ronaldo, who is yet to train with the team due to his family issues.
