Why is Manchester United chasing Martinez for thier squad?

Ajax’s Academy:

The best talents in the world of football have emerged from Ajax. We saw it in 2019 when achieving heights with talents like Frenkie de Jong, Matthijs de Ligt and Donny van de Beek, most of the constituents of their golden generation were on the radar of the biggest clubs in Europe. In the past three years later, as Ryan Gravenberch, Antony and Jurrien Timber have been linked with big clubs across after a successful season. The same can be said for Lisandro Martinez, as Man United did everything to make him join this summer.

His Playstyle:

Crowned as Ajax’s player of the season, Lisandro Martinez isn’t the biggest of all defenders. He’s not the most aggressive, however, he uses his intelligence and anticipation, which makes the job really difficult for rival attackers. He positions himself every second, checks the rival runs and reads the dangerous attacks which might be lurking. All of us are aware of how Ajax plays. A dominant side which plays from the back, Martinez acted as the pillar of the buildup for them. Being the best CB in the Eredivise last season, he averaged numbers, which could confuse anyone of mistaking him as an interior. He would carry the ball from the back just like Frenkie De Jong used to do during his time in Ajax.

Despite standing just 5’9, one can still consider him dominant. Although most of the ‘“work in air” was carried by Jurrien Timber. He contributed defensively by numbers of tackles and interceptions every game, which makes him an important signing for Man United. They had a woeful performance last season, while counting for Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez to be a solid defensive duo. Both are strong on the ball and can complement each other very well. A lot would be expected from Varane, whose experience would make Lisandro a supporting character. Stay tuned at TheSportsWay for more updates.
