Eng-SA Series ends in the rain washes away hope for a result.

The England vs South Africa ODI matches have been one wonderful series for the viewers to watch. The series ended 1-1 as the 3rd ODI was abandoned due to rain.

The first match was a clear defeat for the hosts as South Africa took the lead in the series, winning by a massive 62 runs. Ben Stokes walked out of the ground, having played his last international ODI, which ended in his team’s defeat after a dismal performance. Van der Dussen scored a gigantic 133 runs in his career-best performance, which allowed SA to score 333 runs in 50 overs. England was all out for 271 runs, and Root’s 86 off 77 balls was in vain. The SA team was led by Keshav Maharaj as their usual skipper Bavuma is out because of an elbow injury.

The second ODI saw England’s desperate attempts to revive their team with a win after suffering back-to-back defeats. The tourists were thrashed to equalise the series with a 118-run victory for England. Livingstone’s seventh-wicket partnership with Curran hauled the team from a meagre 101 to 144. England posted a total of 202 runs while SA’s top order collapsed 6-4. South Africa got swept out in 20.4 overs. The dampened performance by SA opened the series wide open for the third match. This was South Africa’s lowest total against the team England which came days after their highest total in the series beginner.

The third match ended the series on a draw due to rain. Maharaj had won the toss, and SA decided to bat first. The South African team reached 159-2 in 27.4 overs. Quinton de Kock knocked a 92 not out off 76 balls and was on a fast path to another ODI century. Markram was playing at 24, not out. Janneman Malan and Rassie van der Dussen were the two batters to lose their wickets at 11 and 26, respectively. At 4 pm, the match was called off, and the two teams were declared joint winners of the series due to an incessant rain delay. Rassie van der Dussen was adjudged the player of the series.

England managed to save themselves from another white-ball series defeat. The team under the captaincy of Buttler since the retirement of Morgan was looking forward to winning this series.
