Is Ronaldo still keen on leaving United despite no agreement with other clubs?

Cristiano Ronaldo has returned to training despite wanting to leave Manchester United to play Champions League football and compete for major trophies.

The story from the previous year’s transfer window is repeating itself as Cristiano Ronaldo is on the search for a new club. The only difference between last summer and this one is Champions League football, the one Cristiano Ronaldo lives for. Ronaldo left Juve last to win big trophies. Manchester United swooped in to seal a memorable homecoming for the Portuguese superstar. Despite recording a poor season, Ronaldo lifted two titles and secured a top-four finish.

In the current situation, he finds himself in a dilemma as United missed out on the Champions League and finds themselves way behind the other top six clubs. Cristiano was keen on staying at the club if they could make some good signings for the team. New coach, Erik ten Hag, wanted Frenkie de Jong to be the marquee signing for the club. However, the Dutch midfielder rejected the offer as he wanted to stay in Barcelona. Despite failing to bring in Frenkie de Jong, United managed to sign Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez and Tyrell Malacia.

Ronaldo was left out of the pre-season squad for ‘personal’ reasons. Many took it as a sign of Cristiano wanting to leave the club. United enjoyed a great pre-season with wins over Liverpool, Melbourne Victory and Crystal Palace. Anthony Martial was looking in great shape and scored in all three games. Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho are back to their best and played some beautiful counter-attacking football in the pre-season. United had only one new arrival in squad, Tyrell Malacia, and showed signs of improvement in both defending and attacking. The fans feel positive for the season, but another signing in the midfield or attack could be crucial.

Ten Hag has Ronaldo in his plans and has maintained his stand regarding his transfer by rejecting the idea of Cristiano leaving as he’s not for sale. Cristiano Ronaldo took the matter into his own hands and made it clear on social media that he would be back on the team for this Sunday’s game against Rayo Vallecano. Ronaldo is yet to participate in Ten Hag’s training sessions. Thus many reports suggest Ronaldo will be on the bench on Sunday as well as for the first matchday.

Ronaldo is running out of options after being rejected by Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Chelsea. Jorge Mendes is finding possibilities, but clubs have turned down the proposals due to his age and huge wage structure. Bayern needs a striker alongside Sadio Mane to fill the boots of Lewandowski. Bayern has strict boundaries regarding their transfer business, and signing players like Cristiano is very unlike them.

A return to his childhood club, Sporting Lisbon is a possibility, but there are no links between the player and the club. we’ll see Cristiano make his Europa League debut? or will his desperation to play Champions League be fulfilled? We will get a clear image once the season starts, as United fans are losing their patience over this transfer saga. Stay tuned at TheSportsWay for more updates.
